I'm terrified of catching a cold

I’ve got a tickle in my throat and a wee runny nose.

It’s so little that it’s not even classified as being ‘sick.’ It’s one of those niggly things people tend to ignore and hope they go away.

I would usually do that too.

But ending up in the ICU last year with the flu has obviously given me some form of trauma.

I realized today that I’m terrified of catching a cold.

Terrified that it would end up being a bad case of the flu again.

The body does indeed keep the score.

Unfortunately there isn’t much I can do within my control about this. The only way to get over the trauma is to catch the cold a few times, without ending up in the hospital.

In the meantime, I’m nursing the yet-to-happen cold in the hopes that it will regress. I’d rather not have a cold at all.

On a side note, I wonder what will happen with my writing SIDCHA if I do end up really sick.

Hopefully I’ll never find out.
