SIDCHAs: A whole week of pinky lifts

Wow, it has been a whole week (+ weekends) since I wrote a full blog post. In the time that I've been absent, we moved homes. It has been almost 10 days of exhausting physical labor and emotional highs (and lows).

The first day I didn't write a full blog post, I felt so guilty. I had committed to a SIDCHA of writing daily, so to not have anything to post at the end of the day was gut-wrenching.

I could have forced myself to write and post before midnight. But I was bone-weary and too emotionally drained to even sit up, much less think and write anything meaningful.

And then I remembered the pinky-lift that I set for myself: just one sentence. As long as I write a single sentence, my rep for the day would count. It didn't have to be good.

So I did my pinky-lift that day. And the day after, and the day after that as well.

Some of it was on Facebook. Some of it on Substack notes. Some of it was in my journal.

I did pinky-lifts for the whole time I was 'away' from this blog. I wrote my sentences.

I also did pinky-lifts for all my other SIDCHAs. I did five (instead of 15) burpees. 30 instead of 150 hops. I opened the link to my manuscript, even if I didn't write. But because they counted, I feel good. I kept my SIDCHA commitment, but I also extended myself plenty of grace.

Now that the big move is out of the way, we can start unpacking.

It's still going to be hectic, but at least we're in now.

And I can go back to my regular routine. Until the next major life transition happens.
