I had a workshop with SGM at the end of last week where we were asked this question:
What has been the most transformational thing for you this year? What has had the biggest impact?
The question caught me off-guard, but I didn't have to think very long to arrive at the answer: it was the realization that God loves me so, so very much.
I've always known that. I've been a Christian for years. The bible tells me God loves me. I know and can recite John 3:16 by heart. I've sung about God's love, prayed about God's love, talked to other people about God's love, heard God's love preached numerous times.
I have always believed it.
But I learned last week that there are still layers to this truth that I am unearthing.
A big part of my journey this year has been the workshop on Tending Your Dreams.
I went into that workshop thinking about dreams. I was interested in discovering what they meant for me and what they could do for me. If they could be the key to me making the right choices or decisions.
But the past few weeks of processing my dreams have uncovered something else. A lot of the time, my dreams seem to be the way that God uses to communicate with me. To tell me that He loves me. That He cares. That He's there for me. That He wants to connect with me. That He wants my attention and my heart.
It seems as though God can't get my attention while I'm awake - because of how loud and busy my waking moments are - He'll chase me down while I'm asleep.
I chuckled a little when I first thought it. But then as I sat with it, it truly humbled me that God would so passionately desire a relationship with little ol' me.
He truly loves me.
Doing the Foundation program this year has been transformational, yes. The books I've been assigned to read have been life-changing. The workshops have been truly a blessings.
But at the end of the day, the most transformational thing for me this year has been discovering yet another layer of the depth of God's love for me. For us.
Which leaves me with a prayer: Lord, help me grow to love and trust You more!
